Alexandra Johnson, ATR-BC, LPC
Life can be hard! Everyone experiences tough times and emotions and finding someone to talk to about your concerns and struggles can make these difficult times easier to manage.
Alex is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Board Certified Art Therapist. Alex holds a Master’s Degree in Art Therapy from Drexel University.
She has experience working with people of all ages with a variety of concerns including depression, anxiety, trauma and abuse, bipolar disorder, anger issues, and relationship struggles. She has worked with children and teens in an acute inpatient psychiatric setting, Catholic clergy in a residential setting, children and teens with autism in school settings, and provides outpatient individual counseling to all ages.
As an Art Therapist she can use art in counseling sessions in order to provide an alternate form of expression when emotions, thoughts, and experiences are too difficult to put into words.
An artist her whole life, (her mom jokes that she was born with a pencil in hand), Alex truly understands the healing power of art-making and how expressing oneself through images and color can be cathartic and is an important part of self-care. Her passion for art and wanting to help others is what led her into the field of art therapy, and witnessing people find new ways to express themselves, regulate tough emotions, and find hope and healing is what keeps her feeling passionate about her work and proud to be an art therapist.
